Rural poverty: different contexts, one problem
Behind the front door of prosperity in North America, persists a problem in rural areas: more than 14 per cent of the rural population -7.5 million people- in the United States of America lived under the poverty line (2002). The picture changes drastically in Central America and South America, where rural development is still a pending task in most of the countries.
